Performance
Sand painting is a very unique form of
painting. It can create aesthetic and lively,
as well as fading pictures. The motifs blend
into each other so that consistently new, surprising sceneries emerge.
On the glass panel in a light box Katrin Weißensee uses her fingers to play with
the fine sand in a rhythmic tune to the
music. These picture stories emerging as
a result are filmed by a camera and are
transferred in real-time motion to a screen.
In a night-time atmosphere this art form creates magic from which the audience cannot help but be fascinated. Only a handful of artists in the world can master this original art perfectly and Katrin Weißensee was the first artist to introduce it to the German-speaking area.
Sand performances work well for live shows in variety theatres, for art festivals and for gala events. The performance consists of a choreographed sand story, in which painting, music and the plot form a perfect unity. Also as a small highlight short, individual messages, for example greetings, names or company logos, may be implemented.
